CASE STUDY OF HOCKEY LEGEND PADMA SHRI S. BALVIR SINGH KULLAR

Abstract

The Present investigation has been conducted on Padma Shri S. Balvir Singh Kullar an Indian Hockey player. The purpose of the study was to find out contribution of Balvir Singh Kullar in Promotion of Indian hockey. The data  for the present study has been collected from primary and secondary sources. Eysenck`s (1978) Personality Questioner was administered for collection of data. The four dimensions i.e. Extroversion, Normal/Neurotic, Lie Scale, Psychotism. Teacher made questioner was also administered for collection of data. The results indicate that he was outstanding player great passion for hockey a hard working disciplined and a marvelous learned man. S. Balbir Singh Kullar loves music, read literature. He has given performance for a long period of time 1957 to 1982. He represented India many time at national or international levels. He has won 30 gold, 9 Silver and 2 Bronze Medal in his sports career. S. Balvir Singh Kullar participated in Olympic 1964,1968 and secured one gold medal and one bronze medal and in Asian games1966  also secured gold medal. He also participate twenty two time International competition and won nine gold, two silver and two bronze medals. He represented Punjab Police in all India police games 1964 to 1982 and won six gold and five silver medals. He represented Punjab all India Senior national games 1957 to 1982 and won ten gold and two silver medals. S. Balvir Singh Kullar joined Punjab police in 1961 and retired as Deputy Inspector general of police in 2001. S. Balvir Singh Kullar has time-honored Padma Shri award, Arjuna award and two police medals. Every Sports person likes him very much and he is taking blessing of all peoples of India.
