EFFECT OF ISOTONIC AND ISOKINETIC EXERCISE ON QUADRICEPS AND PECTORAL MUSCLE STRENGTH OF CRICKETERS
Ms. Apoorva Dixit and Dr. Hem Chandra Joshi
Abstract
The goal of this study was to find out how isotonic and isokinetic exercise affected the strength of the quadriceps and pectoral muscles. 30 college-level male cricket players will be chosen at random from LNIPE, NERC Guwahati students for the project. Less than six weeks of isotonic and isokinetic exercise training have been completed by the participants, while the control group has not received any instruction. The pre-and post-data were collected using the Humac Norm Isokinetic Dynomometry, with the test protocol set at an angular velocity of 180°/s and the training protocol set at 240°/s. With strength as the dependent variable, isokinetic and isotonic exercise as the independent variables, and all variables being statistically assessed in SPSS, descriptive statistics and One-Way Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) were employed to assess differences. The study aimed to determine how training techniques, implementation guidelines, and ideas of various training modalities (isokinetic and isotonic) are employed to determine their impact on particular force variables. The study's findings unmistakably demonstrate that exercise substantially impacted the strength of the pectoralis major and quadriceps muscles. Strength rose in all training regimes after six weeks, however, Isokinetic training resulted in a greater improvement in strength than in the Isotonic group.
