ABSTRACT
The purpose of the present study was to find out the effect of tri-phase training on the agility of sprinters. Thirty (30) male sprinters aged between 19-28 years who had participated in the athletic meet of Lovely Professional University were selected by the systematic random sampling technique and after the pre-test they were divided into two different groups i.e. experimental group and control group (n=15 in each group). To assess the agility of the subjects, shuttle run test was applied on sprinters before dividing them into the experimental as well as control group. The experimental group underwent the nine weeks of Tri-phase training program whereas the controlled group was not given any kind of training. Pre-test and post-test were applied to get the data from both the groups. The difference between groups was analyzed by applying ANCOVA test for the significant differences at 0.05 levels. The findings pertaining to the shuttle run shown, that the nine weeks tri-phase training is responsible for improving agility. While performing the tri-phase training program the weight exercises had been given in developing the particular muscles as (Quadriceps, hamstring, gastronomes, pectoralis major, back, deltoid, trapezes, triceps and biceps) of upper and lower extremities, So the study analyzed that tri-phase training improves the capacities and capabilities of sprinters to cover the maximum distances in a minimum amount of time which is the main asset of every sprinter.
