COMPARATIVE EFFECT OF PHYSICAL FITNESS TRAINING PROGRAMMES ON THE PERFORMANCE OF FEMALE ATHLETES

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of physical fitness training programme on athletes’ performance ability of female athletes of Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior (M.P.). Thirty female athletes of Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior (M.P.) were selected as subject for the purpose of this study. To improve the physical fitness, the following physical fitness components were employed. Endurance, Speed, Strength, Co-ordinative Ability, Flexibility, Agility. To measure the athletes performance ability, there were 3 expert’s of the athletics, who judged each athlete on the basis of time distance and height. ‘t’ test was used for computing the data. The findings of the study reveled that physical fitness were significant at .05 level of confidence with the performance ability in athletes. Within the limitations identified and on the basis of the result of the study. The conclusion drawn was that the training of physical components significantly improves the performance ability in athletics among the female athletes. That the hypothesis stated earlier that there will be a significant effect. On the basis of conclusion drawn the following recommendations have been made: Due emphasis should be given to improve the physical fitness of the athlete through a training programme to enhance the performance. The study may be repeated by employing subjects of the age level other than those employed in this study. A study may be undertaken involving physiological and psychological variables and their relationship with athlete performance. Similar study may be conducted on individual department of athletics i.e. running jumping and throwing events.
